Matthew Malhiot has dedicated his entire career to mastering all issues related to forensic alcohol impairment and analysis. With more than 33 years of education, training, and experience — and numerous professional presentations, awards, and recognitions — Mr. Malhiot is an exceedingly qualified expert witness and a true professional at the top of his field.
Mr. Malhiot's curriculum vitae is nothing short of dense, and his hands-on experiences span the entire spectrum of the forensic alcohol field. Earning his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice administration from Park University, he went on to pursue higher studies and coursework at Indiana University at the world renowned Robert F. Borkenstein Course. It was at this time that Mr. Malhiot began to amass his qualifications and training in forensic alcohol services, including time spent at the Southern Association of Forensic Scientists; Forensic Toxicology Certification Board; Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Alcohol Testing Program, Department Inspector Training Program; CMI Inc. Factory Training and Certification; and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Training.
During this time, Mr. Malhiot logged a considerable amount of hours in mastering the procedures, equipment, theories, and application of analysis relating to the forensic alcohol field. He also accumulated additional certifications and permits, including Department Inspector and Criminal Justice Standards and Training Instructor at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, as well as certifications at the Montana State Department of Justice, Division of Forensic Science.
Mr. Malhiot has also been pursued by other professionals within the legal and forensic science community to provide professional training and education. This includes time spent as an adjunct or guest instructor at Tallahassee Community College, Florida State Public Safety Institute, Florida County Court Judge Training, and the University of North Florida's Institute of Police Technology & Management, among others.
During his career, Mr. Malhiot has been listed as an expert in thousands of alcohol-related cases in local, state, and federal courts. Having spent more than 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, he has also worked on cases in military courts.
